With a clear distance to his rivals the Oldenburg stallion Donnerhall was in the lead of the dressage sire ranking for a number of years until the KWPN stallion Jazz took over the first place of the rankings and held his position for several years. This year Donnerhall's son, the Hanoverian stallion De Niro, has taken over the reigning position referring Jazz to the runner-up rank.

1993 was a remarkably strong year in German breeding with foals which would prove to become influential sires even at an early age. De Niro was one of them and Trakehner stallion Gribaldi, who now claims 3rd position in the dressage sire ranking, was another of the star colt foals born in Germany that year. From the same crop came the top sires Don Schufro and Sandro Hit and these two Oldenburg stallions have entered the dressage sire ranking's top ten for the first time. Don Schufro as 7th whilst Sandro Hit can be found on rank number 10.

Belgian Warmblood stallion Darco and Selle Français stallion Quidam de Revel have dominated the jumping sire rankings for many years. For the first time in a long while the late Darco no longers holds the leading position which now belongs to last year’s runner-up, the Selle Français stallion Baloubet du Rouet. Last year’s number 5, KWPN stallion Kannan, now claims second place referring Darco to rank number three.

The eventing sire ranking is where you find the fewest changes in the top, and the diceased thoroughbred sire Heraldik xx maintains his indisputed first place.
