This year’s high-jumper in the top 10 of the dressage sire rankings is the Oldenburg stallion Sir Donnerhall I (born 2001 by Sandro Hit/Donnerhall) who has claimed 7th place coming from 25th place last year. Hannoverian stallion Don Frederico (1997 by Donnerhall/Consul) has jumped 10 places from last year’s 16th place to landing a 6th place this year, and the Oldenburg stallion Stedinger (2000 by Sandro Hit/Landadel) has advanced 7 places up to rank 8 this year. The Hanoverian stallion De Niro (1993 by Donnerhall/Akzent II) takes the lead for the fifth time and the third time in a row, and with Don Schufro on 10th place Donnerhall has three direct sons in the top 10. The Rheinland stallion Florestan I (1986 by Fidelio/Rheingold) shows a high degree stability and has not been outside the top 10 for nine subsequent years!

In show jumping we see little changes in the top 10, but one major change is very evident and that is the new No. 1 sire, the Mecklenburg stallion Chacco-Blue (1998 by Chambertin/Contender) that made it into top 10 in 2015 on the 10th place advancing up 8th place in 2016. This year Chacco-Blue supremely reigns the sire ranking. The old kings, Hanoverian stallion For Pleasure (1986 by For Pleasure/Grannus) and Selle Français stallion Quidam de Revel (1982 by Jalisco B/Nankin), still sit enthroned in the top 10 where you also find father and son, Selle Français stallion Baloubet du Rouet (1989 by Galoubet A/Starter) and Oldenburg stallion Balou du Rouet (1999 by Baloubet du Rouet/Continue).

In eventing the leading sire, holsteiner stallion Contendro I (1997 by Contender/Reichsgraf) claims first place for the third year in a row. Oldenburg stallion Balou du Rouet who is the 9th most successful sire in show jumping is also 9th in eventing.
