Representative of the championship organisers Ajia Galeja said, “We already spoke several times about organizing such an event, and this year we finally have the opportunity to run the first Baltic Young Horse Championship.” Representatives of breeding organisations for Latvian warmblood horses, Lithuanian riding horses, Baltic Hanoverian and Estonian sport horses agreed last year to organise a Baltic event that would help launch the participation of Baltic athletes in the World Championships. The hopes are that the event can be grown and developed into a common event for all three Baltic countries.

With the aim of finding the best young sport horses of national breeds, the show jumping championship will be run for three age groups – five, six and seven year old horses in a competition called “Future Cup 2018 Show Jumping”, with classes ranging from 1m to 1.40m.

The championship is an opportunity to show and promote the Latvian horse breed on a national and international level, taking the name of the breed worldwide. “The competition is a showcase for new talent, and also serves as a bridge between horse breeding and sport,” Galeja said.

The Baltic Young Horse Show Jumping championship “Future Stars 2018” is organised by the society “Association of Latvian Horse Breeders” in collaboration with riding centre Lielceri, within the show jumping competition “Future Cup 2018 Show Jumping”.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia.
