The Westfalian bred but Belgian warmblood ambassador stallion Pavarotti van de Helle passed away yesterday following a colic attack. The dark bay licensed stallion was 21 years old.
Pavarotti van de Helle was born in 1989 and is by Pilot out of Dixi (by Direx x Aar). He was the reserve champion at the Westfalian Stallion Licensing in Munster and sold to Paul Mais of the Belgian Stoeterij van de Helle. He was immediately licensed with the Belgian warmblood society as well.
Pavarotti was initially trained as a show jumper but as a 5-year old he made the switch to dressage. He finished third at the Belgian Young Horse Championships. He competed up to M-level
Pavarotti's most famous offspring is the late Grand Prix horse Paganini (ridden by Jeroen Devroe) and the show jumper Quintus (ridden by the late Jean Claude Vangeenberghe). In 2009 Pavarotti was proclaimed BWP Ambassador at the stallion licensing in Moorsele.
Pavarotti also sired the small tour horse Quavarotti van de Helle, the 5-year old Belgian young horse champion Pava Jr. van de Helle, the Grand Prix horse Ramazotti and the World Young Horse Championship participant China Town's Dream. He produced numerous international show jumpers.
